After return from Iraq in 2003, Dan Spangler adopted his dog Spanky. He grew up with dogs, but hadn’t had one since before joining the Marine Corps. When he was medically retired in 2004, he decided his next step was a career with dogs. He became a dog trainer, then decided to further pursue his dream by opening a full service dog facility.
In 2010, Dan opened A Dog’s Dream – a dog boarding and day care facility in New Bern, North Carolina. Over the years, the business has grown to also include grooming, training, retail, and swimming and hydro-therapy in an indoor heated pool. A Dog’s Dream works hard hard to stay relevant in the industry and respond to customer demand. Dan plans to continue to expand his business and eventually break into the consulting business to help other entrepreneurs in the dog boarding and daycare industry.
Dan recently completed the launch of an Entrepreneur Center and working space in New Bern, NC. The center was a few years in the making and a first in this area.
Keep an eye out on bookshelves Spring 2018 for Dan’s first self written book “101 Spots to avoid in business”
